Pre conceived ideas rob us of the treasure of the Word of God. We think
we know what it means, when in reality we only see what we believe. One
of the most profound ways in which this happens is through the
ordinary. We are often blinded by the ordinary. How many times have you
thought, I've heard this before, or I've read this before? All the
while a treasure chest remains hidden from our sight just below the
surface of our ordinariness. |

Reformaton is to many of us, as the Messiah was to the Jews. Before he
came, they looked and longed for him, and boasted of him, and rejoiced
in hope of him; but when he came they could not abide him, but hated
him, and would not believe that he was indeed the person, and therefore
persecuted and put him to death, to the curse and confusion of the main
body of their nation. Richard Baxter The Reformed Pastor I
wonder if this is not true also for we who long to hear the word of God
preached. For a church where God is honored and His praises are sung.
Where men and women take seriously the Word of God and prayer. Suddenly
we come to our "senses" when we see such things approaching. We are
frightened out of our desires because of what it will require of us. |

Lord You are desperately needed by Your people and by myself. They need
to see Your glory and hear Your Word that they may believe in You. I
need You because You have ordained that I be a vessel by which these
things are accomplished. So give me eyes to see, a mind to understand
and lips to declare Your Word and grant that they will hear and believe
that You will be glorified in our midst. "This is the word of the
Lord...not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of
hosts." Send Your Spirit even now that I may study to speak and that
Your people will desire even to to hear and believe. |
